One of the things that makes my head spin, is just how STUPID some people can be.
What makes me downright homicidal, is when people harm children and animals with that stupidity.
Colby, a family pet, died on Friday. One of Petco’s undoubtedly highly-qualified, thoroughly-vetted groomers (eye roll) thought it was perfectly appropriate to put a dog in a drying machine and leave the premises to attend a graduation ceremony (KTLA 5).
Sure, the machine had an Auto-Off Safety Timer. Did it work? Nope. More than an hour after death, the poor animal’s temperature was still 105F. And now this family has lost their beloved pet.
Petco claims “The health and safety of pets is always our top priority and we take full responsibility for all animals under our care” (KTLA 5). Let’s hope they do take full responsibility. This groomer already has a bloodthirsty fan club rivaling that of the lowlife piece of shit who taped Caitlyn (the dog, not the Jenner’s) muzzle shut.
For the groomer to even consider leaving a live animal in, essentially, an oven is ludicrous – laughable – and completely terrifying. My iron has an Auto-Off, but it could still burn the house down. I don’t care if the timer is 5 minutes, or 15 minutes. You stand there until the machine has completed its intended cycle and remove the animal.
Or what about this, Petco – don’t put a live animal in an oven. Where were other staff members? Why did this happen? Why was this even a possibility? Professional groomers and grooming companies could, I’m sure, suggest a million other options and tools that are safer than locking a live animal in a heated box. You could probably ask them for some pointers. In fact, what your groomer did is equal to “leaving your dog in the car in LA in the middle of summer” and by any other name, it is illegal.
Finally, finally the FBI has moved animal abuse into a top-tier felony. I cannot imagine what I would do if this happened to my dog. Whether accidental or aggravated, any person who harms an animal should face serious consequences. Now, if only stupidity was a top-tier felony as well.
